BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM WITH THESE HERBS AND SPICES

During the winter months and in times of corona, it is important to give your immune system a significant boost. Although the effect of herbs and spices on your immune system has not yet been fully scientifically researched, in this blog we provide an overview of herbs and spices that can certainly not be missed to possibly increase your health.

HERBS AND SPICES HELP WITH A HEALTHY AND VARIED DIET

A healthy and varied diet helps you to boost your immune system. Herbs and spices are certainly part of that. In fact, by using herbs and spices, you can easily put a healthy dish on the table. For example, you can give your vegetables a delicious twist by using gingergarlic, or our kitchen spice Habibi Veggie. And if these individual herbs and spices may also be able to help increase your immune system, then that is of course an extra bonus.

Ginger

Ginger, also called djahe, comes from the ginger plant and can potentially boost the immune system. A good immune system protects you against infections, colds and flu. For example, add some ginger to fruit such as banana and apple and let yourself be surprised. Ginger also gives a delicious twist to vegetable dishes, curries and fish dishes. And a nice cup of ginger tea in the evening? We will not say no to that. 😉

Garlic

Garlic contains antioxidants that help protect the immune system and thus prevent colds. Garlic lends itself well to a variety of dishes. It goes well with meat and fish dishes (for example garlic shrimp), but is also delicious in salads and vegetables. Moreover, you give soups, sauces and marinades a delicious, full flavor.
Turmeric
Turmeric contains the substance curcumin, an antioxidant that could help fight infections. You can add turmeric powder to chicken and vegetable soup, as well as cooked vegetables and potatoes. Consider, for example, carrot, pumpkin and sweet potato. And of course a tasty turmeric tea or turmeric latte cannot be missed.

Parsley

Parsley is an herb and contains a large amount of vitamin C. Vitamin C plays a major role in strengthening the immune system, which in turn ensures that pathogens such as bacteria and viruses stay out of the way. You can add parsley leaves to a variety of dishes. It is particularly tasty with asparagus, salmon and potatoes, for example. Moreover, it is also a delicious addition to stews, sauces and salads.

Vitamin C

Speaking of vitamin C… Did you know we wrote a blog about it? In this blog we tell you more about the health benefits of vitamin C such as the effect on your health, the consequence of vitamin C deficiency and answers to frequently asked questions. No herb or spice, but you can also order vitamin C (ascorbic acid / sodium ascorbate) from us to give your health a boost.
